What is workplace
violence?
Any act or threat of physical violence, harassment, intimidation, or other threatening disruptive behavior that occurs at work is referred to as workplace violence. Threats and verbal abuse are common, as are physical attacks and even homicide. Employees, clients, consumers, and tourists may be affected and involved (U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR 2022).
Who is at risk of
workplace violence?
Every year, a large number of American
workers report becoming victims of workplace violence. Many more cases,
unfortunately, go unreported. Factors that may raise the likelihood of violence
for some workers at various workplaces have been discovered through research.
Working with volatile, unpredictable people and trading money with the public
are examples of such variables. Working alone or in remote locations can
potentially increase the risk of violence. Working in an environment where
alcohol is served, as well as providing services and care, may have an impact
on the chance of violence. Additionally, while addressing concerns of workplace
violence, time of day and location of work, such as working late at night or in
locations with high crime rates, are risk factors that should be considered.

How can workplace violence
hazards be reduced?
If employers take necessary safeguards, the danger of assault can be avoided or mitigated in most settings where risk factors can be identified. Establishing a zero-tolerance policy for workplace violence is one of the strongest safeguards organizations can provide their employees. All employees, patients, clients, visitors, contractors, and anybody else who may come into touch with company people should be covered by this policy (U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR 2022).

It is the responsibility of all employees, supervisors, and managers to prevent workplace violence, and it is vital for businesses to have a program in place to educate all employees. ReplyDeleteWorkplace violence is a very crucial situation for the organization and its effect can be very harmful to employees and the organization both parties to prevent workplace violence, and businesses must have a program in place to educate all employees. ReplyDeleteDisagreements and arguments are normal in the organization. Without these some time will be boring. Violence is a dangerous. Workplace violence is the misconduct of employees. Sometimes it leads to death. Violence must be prevented and HR plays an important role. good one
