Employee Engagement
WHAT IS EMLOYEE ENGAGMENT?
Employee
engagement is a workplace approach that creates the appropriate conditions for
all employees to give their best every day, devoted to their organization's
aims and values, motivated to contribute to organizational success, and feeling
better about themselves (What is Employee Engagement - Engage for Success, 2022).
Employee engagement is thinking to yourself in the
morning, "Wow, I'm going to work." I've decided what I'll do today.
I've got some terrific suggestions for how to do it properly. I'm excited to
visit the team and assist them in their efforts today."
Employee engagement is about knowing one's place in an organization and being able to see and feel where it fits into the organization's mission and goals.
Employee engagement is defined as having a clear grasp of how an organization fulfills its purpose and objectives, how it is changing to better achieve those objectives, and being given a voice in that journey to contribute ideas and express perspectives that are considered as decisions are made.
It's all about employee engagement (What is Employee Engagement - Engage for Success, 2022).
Keeping your people interested is likely the most difficult task
you face as a manager. It's also a great way to get your team's long-term
commitment and discretionary effort. This endeavor will result in increased
revenue and fewer errors.
There is mounting evidence that increasing employee engagement can
dramatically improve a company's performance in a number of critical areas,
including:
Profitability
Productivity
Innovation in Customer Satisfaction
Safety and Health
Illness and Disappearance
Turnover and Employee Happiness
However, in order to accomplish this, your engagement initiatives must be in line with your broader business plan. It's a waste of time and resources to implement unplanned ideas and actions that you believe might assist without monitoring or measuring their impact (Employee Engagement - Introduction, 2022).
BUSINESS COMMITMENT TO EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Before
launching into "How" you're going to do it, you should be clear on
"What" you want to accomplish in your firm. Your HR department is
critical in developing and implementing an employee engagement strategy that is
in line with your company's objectives.
HR
has a far more strategic job within a firm, as we pointed out in a recent post,
and should be involved in the business planning process to ensure
profitability. Because the HR function is fundamentally cross-functional, it
wields considerable power over the people who will ultimately carry out the
strategy (Employee Engagement - Introduction, 2022).
THIS IS WHY EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT IS IMPORTANT
Employee engagement statistics show that about two-thirds
of all employees are disengaged. It's something that pollsters like Gallup
measure every year. And has remained stable at this level for the past two
decades. Many studies say that engaged employees are 17 percent more productive
than other employees, and there are numerous publications concerning the
influence of job engagement, particularly disengagement.
Based on my personal experience, I believe this is an
understatement. I've taken over multiple teams where the majority of the
members were disengaged and turned them around, seeing performance improvements
of 50-500 percent and turning failing projects into successes. I made this
to try to demonstrate the true impact of engagement (This is Why Employee
Engagement is Important - Gordontredgold, 2022).
